Team spotlight - Scotland

This is for all the Scottish fans who've been wondering why we never feature any of your teams clips. The Scots recently upset Ireland, albeit a B Team, and are looking fit and stronger than we've seen them in recent times.

Here's a compilation of action from the recent matches against Ireland & the Springboks.

We're going to try spotlight a few of the teams before and during the World Cup, giving you some insight and footage of some of the guys you don't normally see.

This ones for you Rob.

  • What the fuck are you talking about?!?!? how the fuck was that ugly, there were some awesome offloads there and great displays of tackling and some great tries!!!

And thanks for the video, Appreciate it!!!

  • Lamonts tackle at 0:22 on the irish fullback looked painful!!! Bet he had a sore ear afterwards!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 01, 2007 10:25 am

  • i would assume hes talking about their overall brute style of game play. their not the most elegant of players, but their in the cup for a reason. coming from a scotsman, theres nothing typical about scot rugby, and nothing ugly!...fag

  • great video. some massive hits. Scotland don't have a chance at the world cup though. the all blacks will embarrass them and italy will beat them at their own game.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 01, 2007 12:55 pm

  • okay so italy couldnt beat ireland even when they were playing completely shit?

the all blacks will be a massive challenge but i'll never put it past scotland to beat them, we raise our game as underdogs.

and im guessing "haha fag scots..." was by an englishman/w@nker, all i can say is chabal fucked you alone never mind the other 14 french players, think what Jason White is gonna do to you? youre a pack of fat chavs with either schoolboys or mike OAP catt as backs.

  • When have you ever won anything Scotland? Or even been in a final? Brew on that for a moment will ya? Ha!

    Go England!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 02, 2007 4:53 pm

  • I'm English and I like the way Scotland play. Strong tackling and pack work is what Rugby should be all about.

Also whoever the English guy who is insulting the Scots is, please keep your opinion to yourself, you're making England look bad and coming over as a right wanker

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 02, 2007 6:13 pm

  • Have we ever won anything?? I was there at last years 6 nations when we beat England and France.

So to answer your question - yes.

Shame about the unintelligent posts - I'm guessing they're from people who can barely play/understand the game.

  • Hey They used my song :)
that makes my day and i aint scottish!
eugh but that was a relatively alright irish side considering......

  • scotland are good to watch, unfortunately they are no match for the big boys. well not just yet anyway! great pack though.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 03, 2007 2:06 am

  • Italy lost by a controversial last minute try to an irish team that was as close to full strength as was available.
Scotland beat an irish team with only two first team players on the pitch.
also these were only world cup warm up games and mean very little.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 03, 2007 5:39 pm

  • Who is this song by? and whats the name of it toooo!? anyone?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 04, 2007 5:02 am

  • hey im kiwi and obviously love the all blacks ..whose the scottish fullback i rate that guy..scots have picked up of late couple of strong wins but no offense i rekon a 40 or more point raping is coming ur way from the all blacks

Why do you idiots bother coming here and insulting people?
It's just a clip of some decent Scottish rugby, that's all.
Relax, you're giving English rugby a bad name, isn't there some football you can go watch instead.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at September 15, 2007 9:08 pm

  • well thats some shitty comments , scotland have proved their worth in recent times , i mean playing their 2nd choice team against NZ and only incurring 40 points is some good defence ... it oculd have been even better with the 1st's ...and i notice some people are going to have to eat their words about scotland not making the quater-finals , i notice wales and ireland didnt make it :P

  • See, I've just moved down to Uni in england from scotland. And I was surprised when the English were so shocked at the way I supported teams that were playing against England. The reason for that I think is just the few arrogant english twats who like to slag off other nations. I don't mind who's playing the game as long as it's good to watch. England are in the final and good on them, they managed to get there by some good play - but after scotland crashed out in the quarters, I was walking back along the street with my mates and we were wearing Scotland shirts. There was absolutely no need for a bunch of twenty english guys to start singing "Swing Low..." We were upset by losing to the argies so that was bad enough also the fact that it's such a shite song might have something to do with it. Sort your attitude out England - it seems to be a few ruining the reputation of an entire country.

  • this go's out to a certain few who took it on themselves to bother posting a comment.

as you probably noticed this video is about scotland!
so please keep your england for the cup malarky to yourself.

oh and btw im not scottish im argentinian.

  • can anybody tell me what game when this game took place?
from some of the clips shown scotland really gave south africa a run for their money.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at October 22, 2007 12:26 am

  • In response to:

"When have you ever won anything Scotland? Or even been in a final? Brew on that for a moment will ya? Ha!

    Go England!"

    How does this sound:
14 outright wins in the Four, Five and Six Nations.
    3 Grand Slams.
    10 Triple Crowns.
    Many Calcutta Cup victories.
4th place in the 1991 RWC.
Victors in the first ever international match.

    Not bad I'd say.

Ronnie it was during August. They were warm up matches against Ireland and South Africa. They beat Ireland 31 - 21 but were beaten by the Springboks 27 - 3. Looking at the scoreline you'd think Souht Africa outclassed Scotland but they gave them a good match. It was very entertaining at times. Also the Ireland match, which I had the pleasure of being there, was an extremely good game with Scotland dominating much of the match.

  • dam megadeth song....sounds the exact same as their song 'liar' just slowed up a little

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 18, 2008 10:12 pm

  • Scotland may not be a particularly 'elegant' team in terms of rugby, but they get the work done - and like the video showed, they have some raw talent that just needs to be polished. They shaped up well for the RWC this year and i'd like to see anyone who has to guts to stand up against the scottish pack and tell them they play crap - only then would you see ugly.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 19, 2008 7:52 am

  • impossible to fill murrayfield?? how is the france game sold out then and i dont know who the english are to talk about ugly rugby. I dont go to a game to watch several hundred lineouts and the odd drop goal

By Anonymous Anonymous, at January 27, 2008 3:23 pm

  • :(
    What the f**k happened scotland?
We gave it our all in the world cup and now we're back to poor clumsy rugby.
We plummet down the rankings and slowly crawl back up again only to be let down again.
its almost unwatchable to see scotland in bother again.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at February 25, 2008 10:06 pm

  • wot abowt ross fords pace at 2:00!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at April 13, 2008 9:57 am

  • impossible to sell murrayfield? Hmm six nations Calcutta Cup match sell out.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at May 18, 2008 12:32 am

  • i was at both of those games we owned that irish team.
NB ireland team included Geordan Murphy, Brain Carney, Brian 0'Driscoll, Tommy Bowe, Paddy Wallace, Issac Boss, Jerry Flannery, Simon Best, Paul O'Connell, Malcom O'kelly, Neil Best, Rory Best, Shane Horgan, Ronan O'Gara, Eoin Reddan. So not exaclty a B team.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at May 18, 2008 12:36 am

  • To the scottish lad who moved to england for uni. i cant believe hes having a go at a few possibly drunk english lads showing some pride in there team and singing a song when theres people beaten for wearing the wrong shirt in scotland e.g rangers celtic. its a bit rich. but yeah english people have the tendancys to be wankers but what else do we have going for us haha

By Anonymous Anonymous, at July 06, 2009 12:52 am

  • To all the English commenting on this. If I do recall us scots tied side in our last test match meeting. Not to bad for a team that isn't "elegant". We play our rugby the way we do and we win. The matches we don't win we give them a run for their money. We might not be the best team but we compete and win. All that's to it.
